Design and laser cut a closed form optimized for the volume-to-surface-area ratio while meeting all manufacturing constraints.
Design Constraints
- Material Provided: 10" × 12" birch plywood, 1/8" thick
- Maximum Dimension: < 6" in largest dimension
- Practice Material: Use lab scrap for test fits before final cutting
- Minimum Pieces: At least 2 unique pieces
- Assembly Method: NO adhesives or fasteners allowed
- Must use mechanical joints only (finger joints, tabs, slots, press-fits, etc.)
- Form: Must be a closed form (fully enclosed)
- Create a full assembly in CAD
- Keep design manufacturable and relatively simple
